NewsWorld Corporation, owner of current UPI, marked the 100th anniversary of the founding of United Press by sponsoring a media conference in Washington DC.

The site:

The Rotunda of the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center on Pennsylvania Ave.

The theme was "THE POWER TO CHANGE THE WORLD," but despite the UPI birthday tie-in, there were relatively few references to the agency.

Hyun Jin Moon, Chairman of NewsWorld Corporation (and son of the Rev. Moon), discussed UPI for several minutes .. mostly its history .. leading onto a general speech about media roles and responsibilities.
