SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. (March 18, 2006) -- Frank William Beatty, 74, of Satellite Beach passed away peacefully on March 18, 2006 with his loving family at his side. He was 74
Frank was born in Atlanta, on Dec. 5, 1931. After graduation from Hoke Smith High school, Frank joined the Navy, where he received training that launched his career as a photojournalist. His first position was with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in 1955. A year later he joined United Press International, a move that led to a 22-year career as a photojournalist and marketing executive for the news service. He served as News Pictures manager for North Carolina (1958), Florida and the Caribbean (1959); Division Manager for Latin America (1961); Regional Executive for Michigan (1964); business manager for Central Division (1967), Eastern Division (1972), vice president of Asia Pacific Division (1974) and vice president of Broadcast Services (1978). In 1979, he was recruited by Ted Turner to help launch cable television's first all-news network, CNN.
He served as marketing executive for CNN during their first eight years. He joined ETS in Melbourne, Fla., in 1989 and retired in 1996.
Frank is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary; three children, sons, David and Kip; daughter, Annie Prenni and son-in-law Mark Prenni; daugh ters-in-law Denise and Marcela; six grandchildren, Heather, Emily, Christian, Jake, Will & Jeremiah; two brothers, Thomas and David and two sisters, Dora Dean and Mildred.
