Broadcast Executives Named in 1989

Here is a Nov. 17, 1989, news release from the PR Newswire:

WASHINGTON (NOV. 17) PR NEWSWIRE - Jon Wilkes has been named vice president and general manager of United Press International Radio Network (UPI/RN), according to Dom Fioravanti, senior vice president for radio and business development with the network's parent, Infotechnology, Inc. (NASDAQ: ITCH).

Wilkes has for the past year served as director of news and operations for FNN Business Radio, a UPI sister company within the Infotech media networks group, said Fioravanti. Wilkes, said Fioravanti, helped launch FNN-BR in 1988 and will continue to supervise FNN-BR. The network provides business news services, including unsurpassed live reporting from the floor of the American Stock Exchange, to more than 100 clients nationwide.

Wilkes succeeds Michael Freedman, who, after more than four years with UPI/RN, will return next month to his Detroit hometown, where he will become managing editor WWJ-AM, a radio station owned and operated by CBS and served by UPI.

Freedman will become a member of the UPI National Broadcast Advisory Board.
